Banglar Bari WB Scheme
Housing scheme of West Bengal providing pucca houses to homeless and landless families (as per official portal).
Banglar Bari is a flagship housing scheme of the Government of West Bengal launched by the Department of Panchayats and Rural Development. The scheme provides financial assistance to homeless families and families living in kutcha or dilapidated houses for construction of pucca houses. It is part of the state governments commitment to achieve Housing for All and complements the central Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana at the state level.
Eligibility
Homeless families in West Bengal are eligible. Families living in kutcha houses or dilapidated structures that are unfit for habitation also qualify. Priority is given to SC, ST, OBC and minority community families. Beneficiaries should not have received housing assistance under any other central or state housing scheme previously. Women headed households are given preference in selection.
Benefits
Financial assistance for construction of pucca houses with basic amenities. The house includes a toilet, electricity connection and water supply. The amount is released in installments based on construction progress. Technical support is provided by the panchayat department for house design and construction supervision.
How to Apply
Eligible families can apply through their local Gram Panchayat office. The panchayat conducts a survey of homeless families in the village. Applications are reviewed by the village development committee and selected beneficiaries are approved at the block level.
