PM Awas Yojana Gramin Scheme

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) is a central government housing scheme launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Rural Development. The scheme aims to provide pucca houses with basic amenities to all homeless households and families living in kutcha or dilapidated houses in rural areas. The scheme is a key component of the governments Housing for All mission and uses the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) 2011 database for beneficiary selection.

Eligibility

Families listed in the SECC 2011 database as houseless or living in kutcha houses are eligible. The scheme covers all rural households including SC, ST, OBC and minority communities. Priority is given to widows, disabled persons, transgenders and families with no adult member aged 18-59 years. Landless families are also eligible provided the state government assigns them land for house construction.

Benefits

Financial assistance of Rs 1.20 lakh in plain areas and Rs 1.30 lakh in hilly areas for house construction. An additional Rs 12,000 is provided for toilet construction under Swachh Bharat Mission. The house includes basic amenities like electricity, water supply and LPG connection. MGNREGA wages are also integrated for unskilled labor components of house construction.

How to Apply

Beneficiaries are identified through the SECC database at the Gram Sabha level. Eligible families can also apply to the Gram Panchayat if their name is missing from the list. The Gram Sabha approves the list of beneficiaries and the block development office processes the fund release in installments.
