Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a central government housing scheme launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. It aims to provide pucca houses with basic amenities to all eligible households.
PMAY has two components: PMAY Urban for city areas and PMAY Gramin for rural areas. Both provide financial assistance for house construction.
Families with no pucca house anywhere in India are eligible. The scheme covers EWS, LIG and MIG categories.
